Bad day? Bad week? Just want to crawl under the covers until next year? Looking for a little hit of inspiration? I’ve been there, and you’ve come to the right place.
The following are five of my favorite quotes for tough times. They’re ones I come back to time and again, and they always seem to speak to me in a little different of a way.
Sure, a quote won’t change your circumstances, but sometimes it can give you that little push forward, and sometimes that little push is all you need to take a little actin that takes you a little closer to brighter times ahead.
Five Quotes for Tough Times
Quote One
“At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough. and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.” – Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler)

Quote Three
“For what it’s worth… it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Quote Four
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.”– Rainer Maria Rilke
