Sort of Legal

I fell in love with Cambodia when I visited a few years ago, the people, the food, the low prices….and Angkor Wat, the iconic temple nestled among countless temples in Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can read more about Angkor and its history here and view photos from my tour of it here.

Once you’re convinced that you too should experience the magic of Cambodia and Angkor Wat, it’s time to get to plan to planning logistics. Even though Cambodia may feel far away or remote, with technology, it’s become as easy to book travel there as any western country.

First, up: What city do you fly into to visit Angkor Wat? Siem Reap, Cambodia. SkyScanner is my go-to for finding flights and has been for years.

If you’re coming from the United States or another far away country, I’d suggest a few days in Bangkok, Thailand (another place I love!) or another large Asian country on the way. You’ll almost certainly have a layover in a large city anyway so you might as well break up the trip.

Next, up: Where do you stay to visit Angkor Wat? Also, Siem Reap, Cambodia. The city is growing rapidly, but for now, you can still find great rates on lodging of all types from under $30USD for your own room in a hostel to well under $100 for a luxury hotel.

Because of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap is a pretty popular destination so you can research and book through all the usual travel sites like SkyScanner, Hotels.com, Reservations.com, and TripAdvisor.
